Description
The aging King Lear decides to divide his domain between his three daughters. He demands professions of love from each of them before sharing out the kingdom. Goneril and Regan flatter him out of self-interest; virtuous, dutiful Cordelia refuses to make such a shallow display of affection, and incurs her father's wrath. Lear's folly imposes a heavy toll in a play widely regarded as Shakespeare's greatest achievement. This Chiltern Classics edition features an embossed cover, gilt edges, cream art paper, ribbon markers and stitched binding.
