Insects are the most successful group of animals ever to have lived. One in every four animals on the planet is a beetle; one in every ten is a butterfly or moth. Much of life on earth depends on their activities, from pollination to the breaking down of waste matter. This book explores various aspects of the insects’ world, such as their staggering reproductive ability, their complex partnership with flowering plants, their remarkable care for their young, and their sophisticated social lives. The author is both an entomologist and a nature photographer.
