A A Milne was wounded at the Somme, a successful playwright, author of a detective novel and assistant editor of Punch. In four years and 70,000 words he also wrote four volumes, two of verse and two of stories, which have delighted millions of children, become classics of literature and led to the introduction of the term ‘woozle effect’ into social science research.
