Description
Hugh of Singleton, fourth son of a minor knight, has been educated as a clerk – a prelude to taking holy orders. However, feeling no certain calling, he turns to the profession of surgeon, training in Paris and then hanging out his sign in Oxford. In "The Unquiet Bones," Hugh is asked by a local lord to track down the killer of the daughter of a local blacksmith. With graphic medical procedures, misdirection, and medieval wit, this tale will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
