Hill farming in the north of England is round-the-clock work, still predominantly done on family farms in a stunning but often unforgiving landscape. In this book, Settle-based photographer John Bentley presents a unique portrait of the farming year, from providing winter feed for livestock – mostly sheep and cattle – to shearing, haymaking, lambing in the spring and ‘tupping’ in the autumn, and going to sales, shows and sheepdog trials.
