EDINBURGH THE DREICH

Dreich: (especially of weather) dreary; bleak. Complaining about the weather is a national pastime for Scots - it’s no surprise that one of our favourite words is ‘dreich’! The latest the gift book series from photographer Alan McCredie features fifty dreich images of Edinburgh, accompanied by fifty equally dreich captions. To the author’s mind the images in this book are uplifting and joyful. There is nothing miserable about dreich. A sunny day has no more right to exist than a dreich one.
