Tales from Braemore is a collection of the stories which used to be told at Caithness ceilidhs on long winter nights, including the Prisoner’s Leap, the death of the Earl of Orkney at the battle of Leodibest, and Alexander Gunn’s recollection of his harsh schooldays. Swein Asleifson is an account of the twelfth-century Viking pirate whose daring and bloodthirsty raids in Scotland, Ireland and Wales inspired fear and admiration in equal measure, and made him a figure of legend.
